internal flash

1. n. [Well Workover and Intervention]

The excess material formed on the internal surface of a coiled tubing string by the longitudinal weld during manufacture. The internal flash can be removed in some larger sizes of string to make a fullbore string less susceptible to localized corrosion that can occur in the area of the longitudinal weld.
