A high-precision component designed to rupture with the application of a predetermined hydraulic pressure. Rupture disks are commonly used in downhole applications in which the controlled application of pump pressure is used to set or operate downhole equipment, such as packers or plugs. In some applications, a rupture disk may be used as a protection device to prevent overpressurizing a vessel or component.
