recirculating mixer

1. n. [Well Workover and Intervention]

A type of mixer used in various oil- and gas-well service activities to prepare treatment fluids or slurries. Recirculating mixers are configured with a tank or vessel, a pump to circulate the fluid, and a manifold system to control recirculation and delivery of the fluid to storage or to the high-pressure treatment pumps. Recirculating the fluid induces turbulence to help ensure a homogeneous fluid.
